Qualcomm opens new lab in Vietnam to expand production of 5G chipset, providing testing services for VinSmart, BKAV and Viettel

Focusing on meeting this growing demand, Qualcomm has announced that it will open a R&D center in Vietnam to maintain the production of Snapdragon processors.

Qualcomm, like many American companies, has also been caught in the middle of a trade war between the US and China. Some companies with manufacturing operations in China are starting to look for other destinations.

Qualcomm has decided to build a new 5G laboratory in Vietnam. The company’s new 5G chipset manufacturing lab will be located in Hanoi with three different sub-facilities, which will play a role in developing new Qualcomm mobile technologies.

The new Qualcomm Vietnam factory will produce the upcoming radio chip and new image detection technologies specifically designed for smartphones.

The first of the 3 sub-facilities is the radio frequency laboratory. The second basis is to check energy consumption and performance. The third facility will work to adjust image sensors and measure their quality.

Notably, Qualcomm’s laboratory is located in the heart of Hanoi, providing testing services to partners who are homegrown Qualcomm’s domestic equipment manufacturers, including VinSmart, BKAV and Viettel.

VinSmart has cooperated with Qualcomm and Fujitsu to produce 5G smartphones in Vietnam. Qualcomm is especially hopeful about 5G modems, which aim to use separate modems in smartphones from brands like Apple.

The company said that as a leading wireless technology company, Qualcomm has worked closely with Vietnam’s mobile ecosystem for many years, as evidenced by the establishment of the first office in Hanoi. in 2003 and later in Ho Chi Minh City in 2014. For a long time, Qualcomm’s cooperation with mobile network operators in Vietnam and original equipment manufacturers has supported the development of products and services 2G, 3G, 4G and shortly thereafter 5G.
